Motion estimation for medical application in psychiatry

چکیده
Some systems have been developped to help psychiatrist to do diagnoses. Among the tried approaches to characterize disease by systems, the study of face movements seems very informative concerning the state of the patient. We present in this work a set of methods allowing to characterize 3D head and eyes movements in the following shooting condition: mobility of the subject in sitting position, background lighting of the room. Our approach yields in a simple way the localization of iris and the characterization of their movement in the three dimensional space. The 3D data are derived from stereoscopic system. The absolute 3D movement of eyeballs and their relative movement with regard to the head are obtained, even if this one are moving. A multiresolution method to deal with movements of great differences in amplitude, like eyes closure, is also presented. No specific lighting has to be used.

New adaptive interpolation schemes for efficient meshbased motion estimation
Motion estimation and compensation is an essential part of existing video coding systems. The mesh-based motion estimation (MME) produces smoother motion field, better subjective quality (free from blocking artifacts), and higher peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) in many cases, especially at low bitrate video communications, compared to the conventional block matching algorithm (BMA). Howev...
متن کاملAdaptive search area for fast motion estimation
In this paper a new method for determining the search area for motion estimation algorithm based on block matching is suggested. In the proposed method the search area is adaptively found for each block of a frame. This search area is similar to that of the full search (FS) algorithm but smaller for most blocks of a frame. Therefore, the proposed algorithm is analogous to FS in terms of reg...
متن کاملAn Improved Motion Vector Estimation Approach for Video Error Concealment Based on the Video Scene Analysis
In order to enhance the accuracy of the motion vector (MV) estimation and also reduce the error propagation issue during the estimation, in this paper, a new adaptive error concealment (EC) approach is proposed based on the information extracted from the video scene. In this regard, the motion information of the video scene around the degraded MB is first analyzed to estimate the motion type of...
متن کاملDesigning the Application of Verbal Fluency Test in Persian for Neurocognitive Evaluations
Verbal fluency test is a useful method to evaluate cognitive executive functions. Studies have shown that both types of verbal fluency test (phonemic and semantic) are influenced by brain damage. This test is rarely used by clinicians because it takes too much time to perform. Therefore, we decided to increase its speed and accuracy by designing a verbal fluency test application in Persian lang...
متن کاملThe Reliability and Concurrent Validity of Digital Inclinometer, Smartphone Applications, and the Cervical Range of Motion Device for Measuring the Cervical Range of Motion
Objectives: Changes in the Range of Motion (ROM) are essential criteria in determining the severity of spinal disorders and could be effective in predicting pain progression. Instruments to measure the ROM are costly and unavailable in most therapy settings. While there is a tendency in therapists to use their smartphones instead, there is no report to measure the suitability of smartphones to ...
